The Storyteller Behind PERFIDY

Ra Dee is the pen name of Raymond Deaton, an author whose imagination has always stretched beyond the ordinary. A lifelong thinker and observer, Ra Dee spent years quietly building the world of PERFIDY in his mind before putting it to the page. The result is a science fiction novel rich with detail, grounded in genuine curiosity, and shaped by a deep belief that the universe holds far more than we have yet discovered.

A Story Years in the Making

PERFIDY: Betrayal did not happen overnight. The ideas behind it took shape over many years, growing from a single question that Ra Dee found himself returning to again and again: What if there are others out there, living in other galaxies, facing the same struggles we do? Not as abstract beings or distant forces, but as individuals with emotions, loyalties, flaws, and love.

That question became the foundation of this novel. Ra Dee set out to write a story that honored the scale of the universe while staying deeply personal at its core. The politics of empire, the psychology of betrayal, the weight of long partnership, and the impossible task of trusting someone who has turned against you. These are the threads that run through PERFIDY, and they all began with that one persistent question.

Beyond the Page

When he is not writing, Ra Dee finds satisfaction in simpler things. Garden work gives him the kind of quiet focus that long stories tend to require, and model building has always been a way of thinking through problems in three dimensions. There is something in both of those pursuits that connects to writing: patience, attention to detail, and the satisfaction of seeing individual pieces come together into something complete.

PERFIDY: Betrayal is dedicated to his wife Rose, whose love and support made the work possible. The dedication at the front of the book says everything that needs to be said.
