About The Book
A Universe of Secrets, a War of Two Hearts
The Story
In a galaxy far beyond the range of human instruments, a civilization known only as the Empire has spent centuries expanding its reach. Its most effective tool is not a weapon of war but a secret, the Organization, a network of highly trained agents who move through foreign worlds unseen, destabilizing governments from the inside so the Empire can step in without the cost of open conflict.
Stafic is one of the Empire’s best agents, a soldier from a destroyed world who found purpose in service. His partner, Maradish, is a warrior from the planet Tyrunic, fierce and extraordinarily gifted, the only being in the Empire permitted by treaty to carry weapons openly. Together, they have completed operations no other team could. They have also, over the course of eleven years of shared missions, fallen in love.
Then something changes. Without warning or clear explanation, Maradish turns on Stafic with lethal intent. He survives, barely, and now faces a situation that defies every tool he has been trained to use. He cannot fight her without risking her life. He cannot walk away without understanding why. And the answer, buried somewhere in her mind, may reach far deeper into the Empire than either of them realizes.
PERFIDY: Betrayal is the story of what Stafic does next.

What This Book Is About
At its surface, PERFIDY: Betrayal is a science fiction thriller set in a fully imagined universe with its own politics, species, weapons, and history. Beneath that surface, it is a story about the things that bind people together and the conditions under which those bonds can break.
- Betrayal and Trust
The title is not a metaphor. Betrayal is the central event of this book, and Ra Dee does not treat it lightly. The question is not only who has betrayed whom, but why, and what a person does when the threat comes from someone they love.
- Loyalty in Difficult Conditions
Every character in this book owes loyalty to something, a mission, a partner, an organization, a species. The story examines what loyalty actually means when those obligations pull in different directions.
- Life Beyond Our World
Ra Dee spent years thinking about the possibility of other civilizations in other galaxies, not as abstractions but as societies with their own histories, mistakes, and internal contradictions. PERFIDY: Betrayal is the product of that thinking.
- Love Under Pressure
The relationship between Stafic and Maradish is at the heart of this novel. Ra Dee writes about love not as a comfort but as a complication, the kind that makes every hard decision harder.
